About CONTEMPORARY
Contemporary dance is a synergistic style that includes Modern, Jazz, Ballet, and Hip Hop elements. Contemporary dance is demonstrated by expressive, intricate, and dynamic movement that is technically sound but also natural, gestural, and pedestrian-based. Often synonymous with Lyrical dance, Contemporary encourages dancers to build upon their technique by infusing emotion into the movement. Laban-Bartenieff patterns of total body connectivity are used to teach dancers how to move safely and efficiently. A contemporary class includes floorwork as well as phrases in the center.
