About Ballet

Ballet has a rich history dating back to the 16th century. Rooted in theatre with an emphasis on anatomically sound principles associated with posture and alignment, Ballet focuses on developing a strong, flexible, and graceful body. Divided into three sections, a Ballet dance class typically includes warm-up exercises at the barre, short combinations in the center, and traveling sequences across the floor. There is also an opportunity to practice mind-body awareness, to establish self-discipline, to increase neuromuscular coordination, and to be expressive.
