First Steps at Fringe is a joyful introduction to dance and movement designed especially for our littlest dancers. This parent-and-me class gives toddlers the opportunity to explore music, movement, rhythm, and creative play in a fun and encouraging studio environment.
With a parent or guardian participating alongside them, dancers will build coordination, balance, body awareness, and confidence while becoming comfortable in the dance studio.

What ages is First Steps at Fringe for?
First Steps is designed for children ages 16 months through 2.5 years old.
What is the program format?
Classes are 30 minutes in length and conveniently offered in short-term multi-week sessions.
Does a parent need to participate?
Yes. First Steps is a parent-and-me class, and a parent or guardian participates alongside the dancer throughout class.
Does my child need any dance experience?
Not at all. First Steps is specifically designed to be a child's first introduction to dance, music, and movement.
Is First Steps the same as a Mommy & Me dance class?
First Steps is Fringe's version of what is often called a Mommy & Me or Parent & Me dance class. Any parent, guardian, or participating grown-up is welcome to accompany the dancer.
What happens after my child outgrows First Steps?
As dancers get older and become ready for a more independent class experience, Fringe offers Tiny Tots for ages 3–4, followed by additional age-appropriate dance classes as they grow.
What should my child and I wear to class?
Comfortable clothes that you can move easily in. No specific shoes are required. We recommend bare feet or socks.
